Revelations in a set of hacked e-mails released by WikiLeaks earlier this month have triggered new conversations regarding UFOs and speculation that extraterrestrials happen to be visiting Earth. Yet a very significant ― and likely missed ― group of WikiLeaks items related to the topic came out on May 18, 2015.
WikiLeaks posted more than half a million U.S. State Department diplomatic documents from 1978 America’s detailing communication with nations all across the globe ― such as Grenada Prime Minister Eric Gairy’s efforts to arrange a United Nations-based committee to study and investigate global UFO reports.
Fascination With UFOs
In July 1978, a delegation of Grenada met with UN Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim, who wanted to know what Gairy was exactly planning to do.
A document dating from November 24, 1978 refers to a meeting between Ambassador Richard Petree and the delegation of Grenada to discuss UFOs.
Petree ambassador acknowledged that within the private sector and the scientific community interest was for UFOs.
In a piece on December 8, 1978 we read:
“THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY INVITES INTERESTED MEMBER STATES TO TAKE APPROPRIATE STEPS TO COORDINATE ON A NATIONAL LEVEL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND INVESTIGATION INTO EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE, INCLUDING UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS, AND TO INFORM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE OBSERVATIONS, RESEARCH AND EVALUATION OF SUCH ACTIVITIES”
It was further suggested that Grenada’s views on UFOs could be discussed in 1979. Unfortunately, that didn’t come to pass, as Grenada Prime Minister Gairy was overthrown in a 1979 coup.
Later the same year occurred a US invasion. The Washington Post reported that the CIA has made efforts to destabilize the government of Grenada.
Tip of the iceberg
This is just the tip of the iceberg, the Huffington Post writes. The documents show that the topic was not ridiculed, but was discussed at the highest level.
THE SUPREME COURT ORDERED THE GERMAN BUNDESTAG TO RELEASE INFORMATION ON UFOS, THE SEARCH FOR EXTRATERRESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE AND UFO RESEARCH
After years of legal proceedings, the Supreme Court ordered the German Bundestag to release information on UFOs, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and a special UN resolution the research on UFOs. This information is collected by the scientific service of the German parliament.
Although several journalists managed to get a copy of a paper of this department, they where not allowed to publish at all. Frank Reitemeyer dragged the Bundestag to court and was ruled in favor. The Bundestag hired an expensive lawyer, appealed and won. Eventually, the case ended up at the Supreme Court.
The information which must to be released includes an international summary of facts about UFOs and information about SETI (the search for extraterrestrial life) and UN Resolution A / 33/426. The authors of the paper conclude remarkable enough that “neighbors and allies of Germany (including France, the US, Britain and Canada) as well as many other countries did official investigation on UFOs.
